The aconites
I planted under the small apple tree last year are flowering now and need
weeding.

As a beekeeper I'm keen to grow as many aconites as possible
because they are one of the first flowers to bloom starting at the beginning
of January. Over the years I have built up a reasonable clump in the allotment
that now seed themselves fairly easily. It takes a few years before seedling
grow into plants big enough to flower and a few more before they become a large
plant.
The seed pods have formed - so the bees have done their work and collected
their reward.
The aconites have finished flowering the seed pods are setting and the
tulips are growing through them.
