Week thirtyone Jul 29th - Aug 5th
2006

Monday 31st July 2006 Sowed more spinach, lettuce, and spring cabbage seed. Planted out lettuce and more leeks but firmed them in well this time so that they can’t be pulled out by birds. I am going to put carrots and beetroot in the bed I prepared over the weekend.

Tuesday 1st August 2006 Rain and a change in the weather. Took another pot of cuttings of the blue/white hebe and the abutilon. Took cuttings of the climbing rose Specks Yellow. The end of July and the beginning of August donotes a change in the bee calendar. It’s now time to take off any honey made give the hives some feed and anti varoa treatment.

Saturday August 5th. Sowed more carrot seed. Took off honey and started feeding bees

2005

Sunday 31st July 2005 Cold North winds - like winter today.

Saturday 30th July 2005 Moved a red pompom Dalia from the allotment the the garden. Rain.

Friday 29th July 2005 Sowed spring cabbage seed -- seed saved from plants sown in 2003.

2004

Saturday 31st July Picked half a bucket of blackberries.

Friday 30th July 2004 A hot sunny day I can almost watch the fruit on the greengage tree outside my window ripening and every now and then have to go out and pick some. The ants and the wasps like them too. The victoria plum next to it is also just beginning to ripen and will take over cropping after the gage has finished.

2002

Sowed spring cabbage seed. Durham Early, April, Flower of Spring, and Spring Hero. (all old packets)

Sowed pak choi Pueblo.
